"Circle Game"
Yesterday a child came out to wonder
Caught a dragonfly inside a jar
Fearful when the sky was full of thunder
And tearful at the falling of a star
And the seasons they go round and round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We're captive on the carousel of time
We can't return we can only look
Behind from where we came
And go round and round and round
In the circle game
Then the child moved ten times round the seasons
Skated over ten clear frozen streams
Words like when you're older must appease him
And promises of someday make his dreams
And the seasons they go round and round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We're captive on the carousel of time
We can't return we can only look
Behind from where we came
And go round and round and round
In the circle game
Sixteen springs and sixteen summers gone now
Cartwheels turn to car wheels thru the town
And they tell him take your time it won't be long now
Till you drag your feet to slow the circles down
And the seasons they go round and round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We're captive on the carousel of time
We can't return we can only look
Behind from where we came
And go round and round and round
In the circle game
So the years spin by and now the boy is twenty
Though his dreams have lost some grandeur coming true
There'll be new dreams maybe better dreams and plenty
Before the last revolving year is through
And the seasons they go round and round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We're captive on the carousel of time
We can't return we can only look
Behind from where we came
And go round and round and round
In the circle game
And go round and round and round
In the circle game

Gin a body meet a body
Comin thro the rye,
Gin a body kiss a body,
Need a body cry ?
Gin a body meet a body
Comin thro the glen,
Gin a body kiss a body,
Need the warld ken?
Gin a body kiss a body
Comin’ thro’ the grain
Need a body grudge a body
What’s a body’s ain
Every lassie has her laddie
Nane, they say, ha’e I
yet a’ the lads they smile at me
When comin’ thro’ the Rye
Amang the train, there is a swain
I dearly lo’e mysel’
But whaur his hame, or what his name
I dinna care to tell
In the book “Catcher In The Rye” Holden Caulfield heard this song it made him feel better and not so depressed. He thinks the title to the song was “If a Body Meet a Body”. Holden was asked by his little sister Phoebe what he wanted to be, He said he wanted to be the Catcher in the Rye. In that job holden would stand on the edge of a cliff with thousands of little kids running and not looking where they are going, He would catch them if they started to go over the cliff. This meant that holden wanted to protect the little children from going into adulthood, He himself wanted to stay in his childhood.
And he said: "Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
